It’s been 2 years in the making, but it’s finally happened…we’ve moved!  My poor blog has been horribly neglected this spring as I’ve been working hard to balance sessions, packing and 2 toddlers!  It was a long and difficult process, but we up and moved all the way across the state to the Portland/Vancouver area.  You’ll be flooded by posts from me very soon, promise.

And no post is complete without a photo of some sort, so here is one from good ol’ Pullman.

February 24, 2010

I first met Miss L this past December when she was a mere 4 months old.  She’s now a bubbly 6 monther and so much more alert than our last encounter!  I was so impressed with her sitting skills at such an early age!  She was quite aware of her ability and proudly showed off her skill for most of our session.  We didn’t have much time together during this mini session, but I definitely enjoyed the time we did have!  Thank you C family for spending part of your Saturday with me!  I keeping this short tonight, but I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

I absolutely love this age.  It’s endearing to see such wonder in their eyes when discovering something as simple as a little foot!

I felt these called for a vintage look!  She’s such a classic beauty!

I love my job!  I get to play with adorable babies, sneak little cuddles and send them off with mom when they get tired and cranky!   Miss E was a little leery of me at first, but oh, once she warmed up we had a great time together.  She really wanted her nap more than anything, so I’m very happy that she put up with me long enough to capture her sweet little face!  J family, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

“Back in the saddle again…” I’m sure you know that song!  I’ve been SO buried in album creations, year end orders, last minute card designs and the holidays that I had to clear my schedule for a couple weeks!  I’m about to break for the holidays, but before I do I have a few sessions that I get to finish up!  Taking the photos is my absolute favorite part of the job, so it felt wonderful to get behind the camera again!

I had a holiday session with a very special family yesterday.  They made a long drive to meet with me and had no idea how COLD it was up here this week!  It was 20* with a windchill of around 7*, so our outdoor session became a studio session.  L family, it was so wonderful to finally have the honor of photographing your beautiful family!  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

This sweet little guy was short on sleep and a hard one to crack, but we still managed a smile or two!

Isn’t she beautiful!? 3 years old, full of energy and sass, but oh so darling too!

When we booked this session we had no idea we were in for SNOW!!  This gorgeous little family met with me Sunday, regardless of the cold.  It was 33 degrees, windy and a bit miserable for them.  I had no room to complain in boots, gloves and a down jacket!  They were troopers, for sure! I was so impressed with how well ittle Miss O did, despite the cold.  Her poor little hands were good and rosy by the end!  We had a good time, made the most of the conditions and hurried back to our warm cars as soon as possible!

C family, it was such a pleasure working with you!  You were naturals in front of the camera.  Thank you for driving out to meet me!  I hope you enjoy this little preview!

It was quite obvious that Miss O has mom & dad wrapped around her little finger!  I could see why…she’s adorable!

I had a mini session with the most adorable little family!  I was absolutely in love with their outfits!  They couldn’t have dressed more perfectly.  We didn’t have much time together, but made the most of what little time we had.  Those poor boys were heavily distracted by a huge birthday party nearby…and when the pinata was brought out, I was out of luck!  Who can blame them!?  I mean, it was a pinata, how fun is that?  Regardless, they did a great job given the circumstances and were so handsome!

A family, I hope you enjoy your preview!

Like I said, these truly are two of the most adorable boys ever!!  I had so much fun with them!

I had driven by this location back in July when I got lost delivering photos…  I meant to check it out and forgot all about it!  On Sunday I was determined to find some fall colors.  I knew they had to be lurking out there somewhere and  I refused to let Mother Nature win this round.  I packed up my girls and took them out for a drive.  Oh my word, it is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve found yet!  I found my fall foliage, my rolling wheat fields, a small orchard…this place is a photographer’s dream!

I don’t typically post photos of my own children here as I reserve this blog as a place for clients, but I’m so excited about this new place that I want people to see just how incredible it is!  It’s definitely worth the trip out there.  I can’t wait to shoot a session here, so if you’d like to book something, please ask me about this place!

We had just a tiny bit of sunlight on Sunday before the yuckiness moved back, so I tried to make the most of it!

I tried something a bit different here.  A good friend of mine spends a few minutes at the end of her sessions playing with kids and shooting from the hip.  I’ve been making an effort to do this because kids have much more fun interacting with me without a camera in their faces!  So, while these may not be ‘technically’ correct, I burst into simultaneous laughter and tears when I opened these images!  These are my girls to a T.  My oldest running towards my youngest with sheer joy, my youngest ready to accept her with open arms.  Then skipping off, holding hands like dear old friends.  Even with technical errors, these two images speak more to me than any other I have on my walls. This is why I vow to play and shoot from the hip at the end of my sessions with little ones.

I’m so happy I ended up with an opening this weekend because when the B Family contacted me about doing family portraits for them, I was able to jump all over it!  I first met the B Family last spring when doing portraits of their gorgeous little girls.  They are so much fun to work with and so danged photogenic!  We lucked out and had NO rain on Saturday after a very soggy week. I really wish we had some incredible autumn colors to work with, but the colorful B Family and their beautiful smiles outshine any setting we could have been in anyway!

B Family, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Darling Miss K!  She was too tiny to take part in our spring session, but was ready to ham it up like a pro yesterday!

And one last post of the family!

I’ve been looking forward to my session with the B Family.  I asked them to drive out and meet me at the arboretum in anticipation of gorgeous fall colors and piles of bright leaves!  We had a very warm September, so our trees just began turning colors in October.  Well, last week we had a freak early freeze and it killed everything!!  No stunning colors, just dull, dead leaves.  We had to battle bugs, hoards of other photographers and keep our eyes open for little pockets that showcased some fall foliage!  We found some amazing locations and made the most of the fantastic light that was filtering into those little pockets!

Thankfully, the B family more than made up for my disappointment in the lack of fall colors.  They were beautiful!  I not only had the pleasure of meeting their adorable 3 1/2 month old son, but they also brought two other members of the family, Ruby and Jackson, their beloved pups!  I had such a great time.  I was also fortunate to have Little O’s auntie and cousin there to help wrangle doggies and get his attention while I snapped away.  It was a perfect session.  B Family, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Ahhhh…the sweet, sweet autumn light…

You know you’re in for a good time when a family shows up for a session and their kids come running at you full force…and they’ve never met you before!  These kiddos were balls of energy and so much fun!  I have to say, I’m still impressed my Miss E’s awesome taste in shoes.  Her purple Mary Janes were stylin’!  Little L captivated me with his coy little smile.  Once I got him to open up a bit, I couldn’t get that little guy to stop giggling!  It was a fun mini session and I had a wonderful time meeting you all.  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
